Travelling to the Mugello Circuit by train is a convenient and popular option, especially for those staying in or near Florence. Here's how you can get there by train:

From Florence

Starting Point
The journey begins at Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN), Florence's main train station. This station is well connected with regional and national train services, making it easy to access from most parts of Italy.

Train to Borgo San Lorenzo
Take a regional train from Florence SMN to Borgo San Lorenzo, the closest station to the Mugello Circuit. The journey takes approximately 50-70 minutes, with frequent services throughout the day. Be sure to check train schedules ahead of time, especially on race weekends, as extra services may be added for major events like MotoGP.

Train to San Piero a Sieve
Alternatively, you can take a train to San Piero a Sieve, another nearby station that is approximately 13 km from the Mugello Circuit. This option may provide more flexibility depending on the train schedule, but the remaining distance to the circuit will require a taxi or shuttle.

From Bologna

If you're travelling from Bologna, take a high-speed train to Florence, which takes about 35 minutes. From Florence, you can follow the same route by taking a regional train to Borgo San Lorenzo or San Piero a Sieve.

From Pisa

From Pisa, take a train to Florence SMN (around 1 hour), then change to a regional train toward Borgo San Lorenzo or San Piero a Sieve. The total travel time from Pisa to Mugello is approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.

From Rome or Milan

Travellers from Rome or Milan can take a high-speed train to Florence and then switch to the regional train heading to Borgo San Lorenzo. The high-speed train from Rome to Florence takes about 1.5 hours, while from Milan to Florence takes around 2 hours.

Reaching the Mugello Circuit from the train station

From Borgo San Lorenzo or San Piero a Sieve:
Both of these stations are a short distance from the Mugello Circuit (approximately 10-13 km). During major events like MotoGP, shuttle buses are often available from these stations to the circuit. Alternatively, taxis are available at both stations and can take you directly to the Mugello Circuit in about 15-20 minutes. Taxis typically charge between €15 and €25 for this trip.

Tips for Train Travel to Mugello

  • Purchase tickets in advance: For major events, trains can become crowded, so it's recommended to book your tickets in advance, especially for the regional trains to Borgo San Lorenzo or San Piero a Sieve. You can book the tickets here.
  • Extra train service: Italian train operator Trenitalia usually adds extra connections for the MotoGP weekend.
